Terms of use

Last updated 17 October 2026

In short

  • NikahTent is for adults looking for marriage, their families, and wedding businesses.
  • Be truthful and respectful. A profile must be real, and made with the consent of the person it is for.
  • Our team checks every profile and listing, and removes what breaks these terms.
  • Wedding businesses are independent. For now you pay the business directly, never through the app.
  • NikahTent is free while we grow. We will tell you in the app before anything costs money.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and ITent Tech (Pvt) Ltd (registration number PV 00367592), a company registered in Sri Lanka, which runs NikahTent: the app, its web version and nikahtent.com. By creating an account you agree to them.

Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data, and our child safety standards are part of these terms.

Who can use NikahTent

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account.
  • Matrimony is for Muslims looking for nikah, and for families looking on behalf of a son, daughter, brother, sister or relative. Wedding services are open to every community.
  • One account per mobile number, confirmed by SMS. For now this must be a Sri Lankan number.
  • An account can manage up to 3 profiles, for example a father for two daughters.
  • You may not open a new account if our team has closed one of yours.

Your account

  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done from your account.
  • If you think someone else has used it, change your password and write to us at support@nikahtent.com.
  • Your account is yours alone. Do not sell, lend or hand it over.

Profiles

  • A profile must be for a real person who is 18 or older and looking for marriage.
  • If you make a profile for someone else, they must know about it and agree, and every detail must be true.
  • The photo must show the person on the profile, and nobody else.
  • Our team reads every profile before other families can see it, and checks a new name, About me or photo again. We may ask for a change or refuse a profile, and we tell you why.
  • When the person marries, mark it in the app with We got married, so families stop sending requests.

Requests, chats and walis

  • Send requests only to profiles you are seriously considering. There are daily and monthly limits, to keep NikahTent calm and stop profiles being copied.
  • A chat opens only after a request is accepted. Keep it respectful and about marriage. Links are not allowed, and messages are kept for 3 months.
  • The full name and contact number you receive after a request is accepted are for marriage talks only. Do not pass them on or use them for anything else.
  • A wali you invite sees and writes only what you allow, and the other family always sees when a wali takes part.

What is not allowed

On profiles, in chats, on listings and in reviews:

  • Fake profiles, false details, or another person's photo.
  • Profiles of anyone under 18, or any step towards the marriage of a child.
  • Asking for money, gifts or bank details, or offering them.
  • Harassment, threats, insults, hate, or sexual messages and pictures.
  • Selling, advertising or recruiting, except a wedding business on its own listing.
  • Copying profiles, using bots or scripts, or getting around our limits and checks.
  • Sharing other families' profiles, photos or chats outside NikahTent.
  • Anything against the law of Sri Lanka.

Wedding services and bookings

  • Businesses on NikahTent are independent. Each one, not NikahTent, provides its service and is responsible for it, its price and its quality.
  • Our team checks every listing before it goes live, but we do not visit businesses or guarantee their work. The Verified business badge means the business showed us its registration certificate, or the owner's NIC with a photo of the shop or hall.
  • When you request to book, the business has 24 hours to answer. Accepting books the date. For now nothing is paid in the app: you pay the business directly, as you agree with them.
  • Either side can cancel a booked date in the app before it comes. Anything you paid the business directly is settled between you and the business.
  • After the event both sides are asked whether it went ahead. If they disagree, our team decides, which only settles whether the booking counts as completed and can be reviewed.
  • Only a family whose booking through the app was completed can write a review. It must be honest and about your own experience.
  • Businesses on a paid plan may appear first, always tagged "Sponsored". Badges such as Most booked are earned, never sold.
  • If paying an advance in the app starts, we will publish booking terms and show them before anyone pays.

For wedding businesses

  • A basic listing is free, forever.
  • You must own or run the business, or be allowed to list it. Its details, prices, packages and photos must be true and your own.
  • Families get your numbers when they tap Call or WhatsApp, and we count those taps for your dashboard.
  • Keep your calendar up to date and answer requests within 24 hours. If you cannot provide a booked service, cancel it in the app as early as you can.
  • A family's details from a booking are for that booking only.
  • Our team checks your listing and its changes, and may hide or remove a listing that breaks these terms.
  • If we introduce paid plans or a commission on bookings, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you. Bookings already made keep their terms.

Paid plans

  • NikahTent is free for everyone while we grow.
  • When paid plans start, the price and what you get are shown before you pay. You are never charged without choosing a plan.
  • Plans bought in the app are paid through Apple or Google, whose rules on renewal and refunds apply. You cancel them in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions.
  • Plans bought on the web are paid by card, in Sri Lankan rupees.

Our team's decisions

  • We may hide or remove a profile, message, review or listing, or close an account, that breaks these terms or puts anyone at risk. Where we can, we tell you why.
  • If you think we got it wrong, write to support@nikahtent.com and a person will look again.
  • We never tell anyone who reported them.

What you add

  • Your words, photos and listings stay yours. You allow us to store them, re-save and blur photos, and show them on NikahTent as you chose, for as long as they are on NikahTent.
  • Add only what you have the right to share.

Our part, and yours

We check profiles and listings and work hard to keep NikahTent safe, but we cannot promise that every person or business is who they say, or what they will do.

Involve your family, meet in a public place with a family member or wali, and never send money to someone you met on NikahTent.

As far as Sri Lankan law allows, ITent Tech is not responsible for what members or businesses do, or for losses from a meeting, marriage or booking made through NikahTent. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law. NikahTent may sometimes be unavailable while we fix or improve it.

Leaving NikahTent

  • You can delete your account at any time, under Me › Delete my account. How it works.
  • A member account nobody opens for 5 months is deleted, after an email and an SMS. An account with a live business listing is kept.
  • We may close an account that breaks these terms.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.

Sri Lankan law

These terms follow the laws of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka decide any dispute. Please write to us first: most things can be put right quickly.
